Mental health at work

Supporting mental health at work is more important than ever. If you're exploring ways to support the wellbeing of your employees or organisational members and would like my input, please get in touch.

Running a family business

The nature of family businesses means that personal and emotional dynamics can often influence day-to-day operations, direction, decision-making and long-term planning. I can help with this unique approach to work, business and living together. Supporting you through it all.

Working with small businesses

Through my experience working with small businesses, as well as within farming communities, I support individuals to gain clarity, work through challenges, and process any obstacles that may be affecting the business.

Using a multi-disciplinary approach

I can help to guide, support and implement a clear pathway, but I can also work alongside other advisory or health professionals, as part of multidisciplinary approaches or alongside  organisational boards.

Sharon May

Consultant, speaker, panellist and advocate for mental health, rural communities and farming families

I’m a qualified counsellor and owner my own multi-therapist hub, based at two locations: Kingsclere Counselling Service and Thatcham Counselling Service.

With over a decade of experience helping adults navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges. I am also co-founder and organiser of the Mental Health and Small Business Conference and a vocal advocate for normalising conversations about issues that often stay hidden, from menopause and neurodiversity to society’s expectations of masculinity.

In addition, I was incredibly proud to be awarded the Nuffield Farming Scholarship, in 2025.

As a consultant , researcher, and advocate, I am dedicated to sharing my knowledge. This can be through expert guidance and consulting services, as well as to broader audiences through panel discussions and media contributions.

It is all about ensuring that mental health support is accessible, practical, and deeply human.
Supporting:

Mental Health and Agriculture

I have a growing understanding of what support is needed, what challenges those who provide that support to rural and agricultural communities face, and how resilience can be cultivated in order to not just survive but thrive in the face of adversity.

Let's openly discuss the hidden challenges on mental health in the world of farming.

Women 's Mental Health

As a business owner, farmer's wife and mum of 3, I am passionate about advocating for women balancing work and family responsibilities. It is no longer the case that this should be at the cost of their own well-being.

Let's discuss how much those that support need support themselves, but too often fall under the radar.

Work-Life Balance

I believe that we need to approach mental health support in both business and agriculture from a broader perspective, that includes families and their communities. This also includes better understanding of boundaries and work-life balance.

Let's discuss the blend of modern family life with our professional commitments.

Neurodiversity and Wellbeing

Many people are carrying years of low self-worth, high anxiety or relationship conflict, much of which can be traced back to the experience of trying to live in systems designed for neurotypical people. Individuals spend their whole life feeling like some sort of failure, because they struggle with things that others seem to find easy. I want to change this.

Let's discuss how I can support those struggling with either personal or professional relationship dynamics.
